On Thursday March 22, 2012 the Association held its 8th Annual General Meeting at the Belleville Club in Belleville.
Since Jack Alexander was unable to chair the well attended event, (as he has all seven previous meetings), the role of MC was ably filled by long time member, Marjorie Foster.
The Guest speaker was Colin McSweeney, the Party's Coordinator of the Northern and Eastern Regions of Ontario. He was introduced by our First Vice President, Simon Chapelle.
After the usual reports by the President, the Chief Financial Officer and Membership chair a slate of sixteen directorial candidates, (fourteen existing directors plus two new ones: Jack Alexander and Eric DenOuden), was introduced by Simon Chapelle. There being no further candidates from the floor, attendees voted and the entire slate was acclaimed. (Please see our "Board" page for the names and contact info for each of the new directors).
Since Daryl was travelling abroad and was unable to attend the meeting, a brief videocast of him bringing greetings to the assembly was played.
After the main meeting was adjourned, the new directors held their first meeting to elect Association Officers. They were:
- President - Robyn Dowsett
- First Vice President - Simon Chapelle
- Vice President of Policy - Dale Burley
- Chief Financial Officer - Gerry Baker
- Secretary - Rob Pearsall
- Past President - Ken Dowsett
I would sincerely like to thank all of the old and new directors who have come out to support us. Without you, there would be no Association.
I would also like to thank those who worked so hard to set up and organize this event. Simon and Marj: you did a GREAT JOB!
My sincerec thanks also to Colin McSweeney for making the long drive to Belleville to be with us.
To the rest of Board: - I look forward to meeting with you on April 18th to start work on a new year for the Association.
